Suffixes are special types of domain names used for grouping reports of abuse, similar to Top-Level Domains (TLDs). These include standard TLDs like .com or .uk as well as second and third-level domains such as .co.uk or .com.au. iQ employs suffixes to consolidate abuse reports, enabling more efficient bulk action.
Private Suffixes are customised suffixes that can be added specifically for you as a customer of iQ without affecting other users. Adding a private suffix allows you to treat a specific domain as if it were a TLD. For example, if you designate yourserver.com as a private suffix, the system will categorize all abuse reports based on the subdomains under yourserver.com separately. Thus, reports for s1.yourserver.com and s2.yourserver.com will be grouped independently, treating each subdomain as a distinct entity.
Public Suffixes operate in the same way but are shared among all iQ customers. These include widely recognized domains that are not actually TLDs, such as com.se or com.au. Although you cannot directly add or remove public suffixes, you can request modifications to the public suffix list maintained by us.
By using a combination of private and public suffixes, iQ efficiently organise and manages abuse reports for effective resolution.
